Students using CSULB's University Library are benefiting from the new Spidell Technology Center on the first floor, made possible with the generous support of long-time library benefactors Robert and Janet Spidell. More than 200 guests honored the couple at an Aug. 30 dedication ceremony.
The center features more than 235 computers, 40 additional workstations and the latest software, enabling students to complete coursework and conduct research.
"The library has been exceedingly fortunate to have the interest and support of friends like Bob and Janet Spidell," said Dean Roman Kochan of the Library and Academic Technology Services. "Their support has been generous and continuous, motivated by a sincere and abiding desire to help us provide the best information resources and the best environment to CSULB students now and in the future."
Bob earned a B.A. in economics in 1965 and later founded Spidell Publishing, which produces publications and seminars for California tax professionals. He and Janet also funded the Library's Spidell Electronic Classroom, used for teaching about electronic research.
Bob is among the longest-serving members of the CSULB Alumni Association Board and was its president from 1994 to 1996.

The new Spidell Technology Center is a popular Library service area.
