President’s Scholar Laura Clark (2001, B.A., philosophy) was sworn into the California State Bar in November after earning her law degree from UC Berkeley’s Boalt Hall School of Law. She is practicing at the Law Offices of McGlynn and McGlynn in Red Bluff, Calif. Lisa Clinton (2001, B.A., child development) is the new director of the St. Matthew’s United Methodist Church Nursery School in Hacienda Heights, Calif. The school offers preschool and day care services. Glenda Colobong (2001, B.A., political science; 2005, credential), a President’s Scholar, is a teacher in the Long Beach Unified School District and plans to return for her master’s in education. Jackie Duvall (2001, B.S., biological sciences) is a fourth-year Ph.D. student in human genetics at UCLA. The President’s Scholar is focusing on autism research. President’s Scholar Kimberly (Thompson) Knight (2001, B.A., interpersonal communication) returned to CSULB in November as the new director of leadership giving in the Division of University Relations and Development. She is responsible for raising funds to support the President’s Scholars program as well as other unrestricted gifts to the university. Corey Booth (2002, B.A., political science) is pursuing a master of public policy degree at Pepperdine University, Malibu. He was a President’s Scholar. The University of Redlands named Honorato Domingo (2002, B.A., kinesiology and physical education) as head athletic trainer in December. He was an assistant athletic trainer at Chapman University in Orange, Calif. Christina R. Durdella (2002, B.A., speech communication) is the assistant director of the Orange County Small Business Development Center, a program of Rancho Santiago Community College District in Santa Ana, Calif. President’s Scholar Aaron J. Moore (2002, B.A., communication studies) is director of development and special events for Musical Theatre West in Long Beach. He was a member of the Leadership Long Beach class of 2005. Elvira Henderson (2003, business administration–marketing and management) is an account executive with Expanded Mortgage Credit in Orange, Calif. She was a President’s Scholar. Affiliate Programs Network, which brings together online retailers, named Wade Schlosser (2003, B.S., business administration-marketing) as its new director of business development. Darcy Guthridge (2004, M.S.W.) is a social worker at Jewish Family Service of Los Angeles. Tomoko Suzuki (2004, M.F.A.) exhibited her mixed media work in October at the first art walk in the new Emporia Arts District in downtown Ontario, Calif., where she has a loft studio. Weddings Christian Cohea (2002, B.M., music performance) and Melissa Dunn were married Nov. 12, 2005, in Suisun, Calif. Steven B. Greenberg (1978, B.F.A., illustration) and Roberta L. Rubin were married Nov. 20 in Westlake Village, Calif. Vince A. Jacala (1990, B.A., radio/TV/film) married Mary Ferrer on Jan 15, 2005, in Albany, Calif. Jay J. Jallorina (2002, M.P.A.) married Christa Calkins on Oct. 8, 2005, in Washington, D.C. Jennifer Lee (2000, B.F.A., dance) and Matt Stevens married in Olowalu, Maui, Hawaii, on Nov. 21. Shawnna Volpe (2003, B.S., criminal justice) and Ryan Lander were married Oct. 22, 2005, in La Jolla, Calif. Births Laure DeVincenzi-Nichols (1984, B.S., business administration–marketing) and her husband, Marine Capt. Rory Nichols, had twins, Devin and Ava, on Jan. 31, 2005, at the National Naval Medical Center, Bethesda, Md. Alumni of Note Jim Knaub, a 1990 49er Athletic Hall of Fame inductee, co-founded Mobility Wizard, an online company specializing in wheelchairs and other mobility equipment. Knaub, disabled in a 1978 motorcycle accident, became a champion wheelchair racer. In November, the Los Angeles Times appointed journalism alumnus Joel Sappell as assistant managing editor and executive editor of the newspaper’s interactive operations including latimes.com and calendarlive.com. He joined the Times in 1981. Alums Named Disney Legends The Walt Disney Co. named English alumnus James Cora and Steve Martin (1989, doctor of humane letters) among its 2005 Disney Legends during a Sept. 20 ceremony at Disneyland. Cora retired in 2001 after 43 years with the firm, most recently as chairman of Disneyland International, where he oversaw Tokyo Disneyland. Martin is an internationally recognized actor and author. The annual award recognizes individuals who have made major contributions to the Disney organization.
