Cities of the United States Search Engine by Northwestern Government Publications Library provides many links to cities with populations over 300,000.

City Profiles for Major U.S. Cities by Wall Street Journal Real Estate Journal provides information on major cities including taxation, cost-of-living, education resources, arts and recreation activities, crime statistics, etc.

About Counties by the National Association of Counties provides basic county information like representation, population, size and year of establishment.

50 States by Pike Street Industries provides almanac type facts on each state, like size, population, state song, bird, etc.

Country and City Web Sites of California (by State of California) a directory linking to county and city web sites in the State of California. It also links to state and federal agencies.

Long Beach and Local History (by CSULB). Research guide to various sites containing Long Beach history and present.

Law Materials of Cities/Counties. Various cities and counties are putting municipal codes and ordinances on the web. This is primary data for Public Policy studies. The last part of the list is direct links to our local cities and counties in our region.

Institute of Governmental Studies (UC, Berkeley). The most comprehensive list of California city charters and codes. These are all owned by the Institute in paper, yet if an electronic version exist it is linked.

Municipal Codes (Seattle Public Library). Lists by state, then city accessing municiple codes.

American Law Sources On-Line (ALSO) . They have links to charters, city ordinances and municipal codes.

Municipal Codes Web Library . This site provided by Lexis-Nexis contains web based city codes.

At-LA . They have links to municipal codes.

Municipal Research & Services Center of Washington has examples of local documents like permits, agreements/contracts, RFP's.

Out of State City & County Codes by Municipal Research & Services Center of Washington has municipal codes for WA but also some northern California cities.
