To find books at the CSULB Library, use COAST, the Library's online catalog. Here are a few subject headings in physics and astronomy:
|
Reference Books
These titles are essential resources for the study of Physics and Astronomy. Items with REF preceding the call number will be found in Reference on the 1st floor of the Library.
Print Indexes
Use to find older citations or historic information.

Use research databases to find journal articles. Start with those listed below but also check out the list of databases by title or topic. IOP Journals (Full Text) The Institute of Physics journals. See the list of journals available here. Scitation (American Institute of Physics, formerly OJPS) (instructions) Compendex (instructions) General Science Abstracts (instructions) MathSciNet (instructions) Proceedings First (instructions) Preprints (Preprints Research Guide) CERN Preprint Server NASA Astrophysics Data System (http://adswww.harvard.edu/) |
Two good places to look for websites on a specific topic that have been reviewed are:
Librarian's Index to the Internet
or look at the suggestions below.
You can also use a search engine like Google.
Just be aware of what information you are getting!!!!!!!!!
Ask yourself:
Who put this information here? (Might they be biased?)
What expertise do they have about this topic? (Are they a PhD at a university or Joe-Bob in his basement?)
Why did they put it here? (Are they trying to sell something or convince me of a particular point of view?)
When did they put it here?
Some Good Websites:
Astronomy
Surveys
Physics
