  • RILM Abstracts of Music Literature
    • Books, journals, conference papers, dissertations, book chapters, bibliographies, catalogs, media materials, and all forms of scholarly communication related to music. Coverage: 1969 to present.  Updated monthly.
  • Music Index
    • Contains data from 775 international music periodicals from over 40 countries in 22 languages. It covers all styles and genres of music. Included are book reviews, obituaries, news and articles about music, musicians and the music industry. Updated quarterly.
  • Grove Music Online
    • The online version of the second edition of the New Grove Dictionary of Music and Musicians plus the New Grove Dictionary of Opera and New Grove Dictionary of Jazz--definitive sources of information on all aspects of music. Includes notated musical examples, images, and digital sound. Ongoing updates.
  • Beethoven Bibliography Database
    • The Beethoven Bibliography Database is a fully-indexed bibliography of published materials relating to Ludwig van Beethoven. It contains 6,200 records for books, articles, and scores.
  • Canadian Music Periodical Index
    • CMPI is an index to Canadian music periodical literature on all aspects of musical activity in Canada. Updated monthly, the database currently includes more than 25,000 entries indexed from  475 Canadian music journals, newsletters and magazines from the late nineteenth century to the present day.
  • Academic Search Complete
    • General subject database containing indexing and abstracts for nearly 3,000 journals, with many dating back to 1984. Good for finding reviews, recent articles, etc.  Academic Search Complete also provides full-text data for over 1,200 journals, with some information dating back to 1990.
  • LexisNexis Academic
    • Use to find newspaper articles on reviews, openings, obituaries, etc. Coverage: most files started between 1970 and 1985 and run to the present.
  • Dissertations and Theses
    • Doctoral dissertations and masters theses from over 1,000 North American and European universities.  Search for musical dissertations by keyword.  Coverage: 1861 to date.  Updated monthly.
  • ERIC
    • References to thousands of educational topics, including music education. Coverage: 1966 to date. Updated monthly.
  • Humanities Abstracts
  • Humanities and Social Sciences Retrospective
    • More than 400 periodicals on archaeology, art, classics, film, folklore, journalism, linguistics, music, the performing arts, philosophy, religion, world history, and world literature. Abstracts are available from March 1994 to date. Coverage: Humanities Abstracts, February 1984 to date, Humanities and Social Sciences Retrospective, 1907-84.
