BioSites: a virtual catalog of selected internet resources in the Biomedical Sciences

A current listing of sites in the biomedical sciences selected as part of a collaborative project by staff in the Resource Libraries within the Pacific Southwest Region of the National Network of Libraries of Medicine with evaluative descriptions authored by health sciences librarians. It can be browsed by broad topic areas or searches can be run across the entire system.

Hardin Meta Directory

A list of lists that contains links to directories covering health related subjects and also offers links to new health sites. Hardin Library for the Health Sciences at the University of Iowa is the creator of this meta directory.

HealthAtoZ

Searches 50,000+ health-related sites reviewed and rated by HealthAtoZ's staff of health care professionals and created by Medical Network, Inc. (MNI).

HealthWeb

Provides links to health sites selected and evaluated by librarians and information professionals at major academic medical centers in the Midwest.

MedGuide

This site developed by the American Academy of Osteopathy includes an "intuitive" medical search engine devoted to modern medicine and health care. It also lists medical student organizations, medical societies and associations, and medical colleges.

MedHunt

MedHunt is Health On the Net Foundation's medical document finder which can be limited geographically and by domain. HON is a nonprofit organization headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland which has rated and described each listing.

Medical Matrix

A gateway to more than 4,000 ranked, peer-reviewed, annotated clinical health care resources. Target audience is primarily U.S. physicians and healthworkers. There is a one time registration process (and it promises to use the information only for improving the site). You can search by topic area (speciality, disease, publications, clinical practice, education, health care professionals and technology) or by using the search box at the top of the screen.

MedWeb

Organized links to evaluated medical sites by Emory University Health Sciences Center Library. Select "All Subjects" to browse by topics or "Advanced Search" allows for searching of url and/or multiple words and phrases.

MedWebPlus

A catalog of biomedical web resources with links checked automatically on a daily basis and given a rating for accessibility. It is a demonstration site of y-DNA, inc.'s informatics/database tools.

Medical World Search

A selection of medical sites chosen for their quality and facilitates searching by using a medical thesaurus that automatically searches for related terms.
