Other Legal Systems

This is a bibliography of sites to countries that have laws or court cases. Remember not all countries have laws and courts like the United States. There is duplication between the sites but these websites seem to keep the links to the information current. Do not forget the law of treaties that are linked to in the Hot Topics or U. S. Treaties or Non-U.S. Treaties.

Foreign Law Alphabetical list of countries from the University of Chicago Law School.

Constitutions of the Americas Constitutions only of North, Central and South America and Caribbean countries. Most are in Spanish, but also Dutch, French Portuguese and English.

Eur-Lex: European Union Law . Provides approximately two months of public access to the Official Journal of the European Communities, as well as EU treaties, legislation in force, and recent judgments by the Court of Justice.

Global Legal Information Network by the Library of Congress. This is a public database of laws, regulations, judicial decisions, and other complementary legal sources contributed by governmental agencies and international organizations. Contains official full texts of published documents to the database in their original language. Each document is accompanied by a summary in English and subject terms selected from the multilingual index to GLIN. All summaries are available to the public, and public access to full texts is also available in participating jurisdictions

Guide To European Legal Databases Legal information links but only from countries in Europe.

Guide to Law Online by the Law Library of Congress. Sources of International, Multination and United States legal sources, law journals and Nations.

International Constitutional Law (ICL) Arranged alphabetically by country in three lists. The first are those countries with laws and courts. The second list only contains country history, no constitutions. The final list of countries (not underlined) are without known data, chances it is just not electronically available.

International Court of Justice (ICJ) The judicial branch of the United Nations site contains major decisions, ongoing decisions and other key international legal documents.

International Courts and Tribunals International Legal Materials list links to the world courts and then by country to their major courts and tribunals.

Internet Law Library: Law of Nations Arranged alphabetically by country. Originally developed by the U.S. House of Representatives and contains many U.S. Department of State publications.

Law of Foreign Jursidiction Arranged alphabetically by country and maintained by Emory Law School.

Laws of Foreign Countries List of links from the University of Chicago Law School.

Legal Information Institute: Law by Sources from Around the Globe Arranged by continent, then by country. Lists also other organizations dealing with international law.

National Constitutions Arranged alphabetically by country. Gives the full-text of these country's constitution, sometimes in language of origin. 1 in 3 links are to International Constitutional Law (ICL) site, listed above.

World Government Resource You must pick a letter then a country, for each country, links to some sites already mentioned, like International Constitutional Law (ICL) and Library of Congress. But also links to Yahoo, Internet Legal Resource Guide, etc.
