Terrorism and Counterterrorism.

Alternative Resources on the U.S. "War Against Terrorism" by the International Responsibilities Task Force of the American Library Association. This website links to alternative media, reports, protests and demonstrations concerning the United State's war on terrorism.

Documents on Terrorism by Yale Law School. This website provides full-text to primary documents (most are United States based) related to terrorism from the pre-18th Century to the 21st Century.

Global Terrorism: The Complete Reference Guide by Harry Henderson, Checkmark Books, 2001. A book that gives an overview of the topic of terrorism. Their are chapters on who the major international terrorist are, a chronology of events from 1946 to 2001, and a large glossary and biography section. The second half the of the book is devoted to researching terrorism, including 70+ page bibliography and terrorism statistics.

International Policy Institute on Counter-Terrorism by ICT provides news and links to terrorism studying think tanks. There is a bibliography of the top 50 books on Terrorism and Counterterrorism.

Countterrorism  by United States Department of State. This site has United States definitions of the Terrorist Enemy, Country Reports on Terrorism, Terrorist Designation Lists, and a list of United States sponsored terrorism attacks.

Subject Guide: Terrorism by Naval Post Graduate School Library. This subject guide includes book titles and annotated website links on terrorism.

Terrorism, 1996-2001: a chronology by Edward F. Mickolus, Greenwood Press, 2002. A two-volume chronology of all the terrorist event from 1996 through 2001. Entries for September 11, 2001 include the names of those lost at the various events. A 30-page bibliography on regions, topics like hostage-taking and hijacking, Internet sites and fictional titles on terrorism. There are  previous editions   covering the terrorist events from 1968 to 1995. 

Terrorism, a Military Policy Awareness Link by MERLN: Military Education Research Libraries Network. A comprehensive guide to United States government documents dealing with terrorism. Also included are RAND, news services and other research guides on the web dealing with Terrorism.

Terrorism: Selected Internet Resources by the Library of Congress. This guide links to annotated websites and news on bioterrorism, terrorism in various regions of the world, Osama bin Landens' background, Mullah Omar and Al Qaeda.

United States Sanctions by United States Treasury, Office of Foreign Assets Control. Lists of those the United States is imposing economic and trade sanctions. Those mainly targeted are foreign countries, terrorists, international narcotics traffickers, and those engaged in the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction. Arranges by program, foreign country, persons or industry.

Iraq in Transition.

Struggle for Iraq by BCC. A long running news report on what is happening in Iraq. The news is international with British flavor.

Iraq in Transition by Online News Hour. A selection of maps, players and ongoing news reports on Iraq.

Iraq War: learning from the past, adapting to the present, and planning for the future by Thomas R. Mockaitis and the Strategic Studies Institute, U.S. Army War College in 2007.

Iraq - Policy Documents by MERLN: Military Education Research Libraries Network. This is a large collection links to United States federal press releases, reports and documents all on Iraq.

Iraq: Relief and Recovery by Development Gateway Foundation (originally establish through World Bank). This site provides statistics, reports, discussion forums and lists of publications on the various key issues dealing with the Iraq recovery. The site can be view in English, Spanish or French.

Iraq War Debate: 2002/2007 by University of Michigan Librarian Grace York. This provides the history of this war, plus projected political aftermath, U.S. occupation, transitional government, and primary players to name a few of the sources and website links.

Iraq's Weapons of Mass Destruction Special Report to the Director of the Central Intelligence Agency by Charles Duelfer of the Iraq Survey Group. This very large three volumes contain information on the Regime strategy and financing, delivery and the various weapons.

Politics of Space.

Current and Future Space Security by Center for Non-Proliferation Studies at Monterey Institute of International Studies. The website provides international treaties and conventions, current military space programs and data and analysis on space arms control issues. Note it contains a nice listing of weblinks to external governmental, NGO and web news sites dealing with space.

FAS Space Policy Project by the Federation of American Scientists. This project is dedicated to ending the worldwide arms race and avoiding the use of nuclear weapons for any purpose. The links are to sources and other websites dealing with arms trade, weapons (by type, by use and by ownership) and information technology to name a few.

Space Law and Policy Library by the Archimedes Institute an organization devoted to the efficient and equitable development of the solar system. The websites links documents and sources dealing with agreements (U.S. and International), articles and essays, position papers and a bibliography with subjects like space debris and European space laws. Note the links are not always current and are dead.

World Hot Spots.

CrisisWatch Database by International Crisis Group . This provides field-based analysis of country conflicts including what is happening by governmental agencies in dealing with the event, e.g. United Nations. Search the database by conflict/country or keyword.

Center for Nonproliferation Studies (CNS) by Monterey Institute of International Studies. This website provides information and analysis to combat the spread of weapons of mass destruction. It contain downloads to books, reports, papers and journals. It can be browsed by region or subject, e.g. terrorism, missiles, chemical/biological and treaties.

Political Violence in the Middle East by Columbia University Library. An alphabetical list of websites dealing with political violence in one hot spot in the world.

Paper Topic Ideas.

World at Risk: a global issues sourcebook . This book provides highlights 30 different global issues. Each chapter explains the issue and risk and provides more information for further investigation.

September 11th Historical Information.  

The 9/11 Commission Report by the Commission on the 9/11 for the President of the United States. Complete account, the attack, immediate response to the attack and recommendations against future attacks.

Focus on Terrorism by World Book, 2002. This book first focuses on the attacks of September 11, 2001. The rest of the book takes articles form the World Book Encyclopedia on Regions of Conflict, Terrorism, and Homeland Security.
