COAST is the way you check for books and other items that the library owns. Here are some helpful searches you can try in COAST to find topics related to Food Science!
To start, you can always do a KEYWORD search in Coast on your topic. Simply type in your topic and Coast will show you what the library has on your topic.

If you would like to browse the book stacks for books in this area, the call number ranges vary. Some items are located in the TP368-500 areas. Othes are in the TX550's. All the T's are on the 4th floor. However, as so many of the Food Science topics that you may be looking for are cross-discplinary, your best bet is a KEYWORD search on your specific area of research.

This overall helpful database can always find you information on any topic.
Food Science & Technology Abstracts (FSTA)
This is THE place to start. This database is dedicated to all things food science and technology.
General Science Abstracts
Exactly as its title states, this database covers general science topics, including Food Science.
ScienceDirect
This is the major scientific database. The majority of titles are full text and it is a great place to do Food Science research.
Wiley Interscience
Another great science database that works for many Food Science topics.
These internet sites have the "seal of approval" from the FCS librarian, and may be a useful starting point to do web research.
Biological Diversity in Food & Agriculture
From the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, this informative site offers all kinds of information and resources.
Food Laws & Regulations
A subsection of the Institute of Food Technologists website (listed below), this section is specific to law and regulations relating to food. The site provides links (a well organized list) and full text of it's newsletters.
Food Science and Technology
Another great side from the USDA. A subsection of the Food and Nutrition Center, this whole section is dedicated to Food Science and Technology. There are sub-categories and many links to other sites providing Food Science & Technology information.
Institute of Food Technologists
The mission of the IFT is to "advance the science and technology of food through the exchange of knowledge." Their website certainly succeeds!
Nutrient Data Laboratory
From the USDA, this interactive site provides searching of the USDA National Nutrient Database for Standard Reference, which provides the composition of foods. The site provides information on many other topics as well.
Pew Initiative on Food and Biotechnology
The Pew Initiative on Food and Biotechnology was established in 2001 to be an independent and objective source of credible information on agricultural biotechnology for the public, media and policymakers. The group and the their website are neither for nor against genetically modified foods, and simply provides information on the topics.
