This is a general database that provides articles and article information on a variety of topics, including Child Development and Family Studies.  The database offers the option of limiting your results to "peer reviewed" articles, and also offers the ability to limit just to journal articles.

Ageline
This database from the AARP, is the source for aged persons and related topics.

Anthropology Plus
This database contains child development and family stuides article information from an anthropological viewpoint.

ERIC
This is the education database.  It covers all aspects of education and its topics.  This will aid in finding anything relating to educating children or children's education programs.

Ethnic Newswatch
This database provides journal and newspaper articles written for and written by various ethnic groups in the United States.

Family & Society Studies Worldwide
This is the place to start when searching for journal article information on family studies and child development. 

PsycINFO
The preminent pyschology database that covers all aspects of psychology.  A must when searching for family and child information.  The database offers the option of limiting your results to journal articles.

Social Services Abstracts
This database covers social work, human services, social welfare, social policy and community development.  Another great place to find article information on child development and family studies.

AnthroKids
This information on this site is, to the site producers authors "to our knowledge, is the only public domain data base of child anthropometric data. It should prove to be a valuable resource for product designers of all types, concerned with the safety of their products when used by children."

Child and Family Webguide
From Tufts University, this web site hopes to illiminate some of the confusion and frustration related to web searching on the topic of child development.

Child Stats
"This web site offers easy access to federal and state statistics and reports on children and their families, including: population and family characteristics, economic security, health, behavior and social environment,and education."

National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC)
This is a very important site for anyone researching the education of young children.  The site has alot to offer, including a public policy section and a parents section that allows parents to find what programs are NAEYC accredited.

National Center for Early Development & Learning (NCEDL)
The NCEDL is a collaborative research project between the University of Virginia and UCLA and supported by the US Department of Education's Institue for Educational Sciences.  The site offers all kinds of information on their research projects as well as comprehensive list of web links regarding early childhood development.

National Council on Family Relations
This is the official site of the NCFR and it's mission is to provide a forum for "family researchers, educators, and practitioners to share in the development and dissemination of knowledge about families and family relationships, establishes professional standards, and works to promote family well-being."


smARTkids
From the University of Chicago's David and Alfred Smart Museum of Art, this site encourages kids to experience art.  It is convienently divided into four main sections.  There is also a parent's section with advice on how to use the site with kids and also a teacher's section with methods to integrate the site into classroom activities.  You can also customize the background color of the site to suit your mood!

When They Were Young: A Photographic Retrospective of Childhood
From the Library of Congress, this photo exhibit captures the "spirit, vulnerability, playfulness, unpredictability, restlessness, and dignity of children throughout generations and in diverse parts of the world. "
