AGRICOLA

This database offers citations and abstracts of agricultural literature dating back to the 15th century.  AGRICOLA indexes materials in all formats.  Records cover all aspects of agriculture and related fields.

Environmental Sciences and Pollution Management

This bibliographic database covers a wide range of topics concerning the Environmental Sciences.   Citations are taken from journals, conference proceedings, books, reports, and government publications.  Coverage spans from 1967 to the present.

GeoScienceWorld with GeoRef

GeoRef has over 2.6 million citations for journals, books, maps, government reports, conference papers, thesis and dissertations in environmental and engineering geology, geology, geophysics, paleontology, oceanography, mineralogy and more.  Coverage extends as far back as 1785.  GeoScienceWorld has over 30 full text journals, some back to the 1920’s.

Science Direct

ScienceDirect is a full-text database extending back no later than 5 years from the current date.  Information is gathered from journals published by Elsevier Science, its subsidiaries, and some other scholarly publishers.

Web of Science

Web of Science provides access to multidisciplinary, high-quality research information from the world's leading arts, humanities, science and social science journals.  Web of Science allows you to track cited authors, articles, as well as articles arranged by subjects. Covers from 1996 to the present.

 


 

Reference Resources

Environmental Profiles:  a global guide to projects and people / Linda Sobel Katz, Sarah Orrick, and Robert Honig. GE1 .K38 1993

In this single-volume book, environmental organization profiles are arranged alphabetically by country.  Each profile contains the name, contact information, purpose, and projects/people affiliated with the organization.

Dictionary of environment and development : people, places, ideas, and organizations / Andy Crump. GE10 .C78 1993

Entries in this dictionary provide users with general background information on each term.  Terms relating to key people/organizations, locations, and theories in environmental issues are covered.

Encyclopedia of environmental analysis and remediation / Robert A. Meyers, editor. GE10 .E49 1998

This eight-volume set provides a comprehensive overview of environmental issues.  The Encyclopedia stems from the professional perspective and is divided into three core subjects: air pollution control, environmental law and regulation, and environmental sampling and analysis.

Encyclopedia of environmental issues / editor, Craig W. Allin ; project editor, Robert McClenaghan. GE10 .E52 2000

This three-volume encyclopedia identifies central environmental issues.  Aside from general background information, entries can include tables, graphs, and photos.

The environment A to Z / David Hosansky. GE10 .H67 2001

This dictionary offers information on a wide range of environmental topics and attempts to be unbiased by presenting articles that represent all viewpoints.

Cooper's comprehensive environmental desk reference / compiled and edited by André R. Cooper, Sr. GE123 .C64 1996

This work defines acronyms and other jargon that exist in environmental issues.  It is intended to be used by people from all angles of environmentalism.  The book is divided into eight sections, each presenting quick reference listings relating to the section at large.

EPA Information Sources Webpage

This webpage contains links to the EPA Libraries, listservs, and publications.  In addition, the EPA provides links to other helpful online resources such as environmental testing methods and online tools that access environmental data.

Librarian's Internet Index (LII)

This site was created so that users may find reliable and legitimate information on the Internet. Websites are selected and analyzed by professional librarians and are updated weekly.  This links you directly to the Environment page, however LII reviews websites pertaining to all topics.

National Library for the Environment

Maintained by the National Council for Science & the Environment (NCSE), this site presents information concerning the environment for all levels of interest.  Provides links to other environmental resources, Congressional Research Service (CRS) Reports, books, & news updates.
