Perhaps the most important scholarly index on the subject. Includes over 60,000 articles. Coverage is international.

Lexis Nexis Academic
Good source for newspaper reviews of dances. Newspapers, journals, legal digests and reports, and other publications covering economic,
business, medical, social science and popular culture issues. Coverage: most files started between 1970 and 1985 and run to the present.
Some legal materials (laws, court reporters, law digests) go back to 1799.
Humanities Abstracts
Citations to more than 400 periodicals on archaeology, art, classics, film, folklore, journalism, linguistics, music, the performing arts,
philosophy, religion, world history, and world literature. Abstracts are available from March 1994 to date. Coverage: February 1984 to date.
SPORT Discus
Resource for references to articles about various aspects of dance, including conditioning for and injuries to dancers. Coverage: 1975 to date.
MEDLINE on FirstSearch

Organizations
Dance Notation Bureau (DNB)
The Dance Notation Bureau's mission is to advance the art of dance through the use of a system of notation. This site features
information on notation basics; sources for assistance in studying Labanotation, notating dances, and staging from the Labanotation
score. There is also a section for teachers containing materials that can be downloaded and used in the classroom, plus a bulletin board
that allows discussions of notation issues.
Dance Heritage Coalition
According to the site, the DHC focuses in four areas: Access to materials; the continuing documentation of dance employing both
traditional methods and developing technologies; preservation of existing documentation; and, education regarding methods, standards,
and practice for access, documentation, and preservation.
NASD, National Association of Schools of Dance
As stated on their web page, NASD is an organization of schools, colleges, and universities that offer dance studies. The web site is
intended to provide general assistance regarding the operation of NASD, including the accreditation process.
National Dance Association (NDA)
The National Dance Association (NDA) is an organization for dance educators which is based in Reston, Virginia. The mission of the
National Dance Association is to promote the development and implementation of sound philosophies and policies in all forms of dance
and in dance education at all levels. The site includes information about membership, publications and communications, conventions and
meetings, and programs and professional services.
National Dance Education Organization (NDEO)
The National Dance Education Organization (NDEO) is an organization established to advance dance education centered in the arts.
The Journal of Dance Education (JODE) is the official publication of the organization.
Society of Dance History Scholars
The Society of Dance History Scholars "is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to promoting study, research, discussion, performance,
and publication in dance history and related fields."

The New York Public Library Dance Collection
Catalog of the New York Public Library Dance Collection that is THE collection of dance materials in the world. The catalog is so detailed
that it also can function as an index to a wide range of dance periodicals.
