MatWeb has a free searchable database of 40,000 metals, plastics, composites and ceramics data sheets.  Registration is required (either free or fee) to use advanced features.

IRIS: Integrated Risk Information Systems

"IRIS is a database of human health effects that may result from exposure to various substances found in the environment." IRIS is produced by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

Toxic Release Inventory (TRI)

"The Toxic Release Inventory (TRI) is a publicly available EPA database the contains information on toxic chemical releases and other waste management activities reported annually by certain covered industry groups as well as federal facilities."

ToxNet and ChemIDPlus from the National Library of Medicine

Hazardous Chemical Database
