Long Commute? Look to Audiobooks To Relieve Stress and Tedium
Commuter traffic. Overpass construction delays. The search for parking. It’s not a pretty picture, and it can add up to lots of wasted time. The Library can help you make productive use of that time, while relieving some of the tedium of a daily commute. Our audiobook collection is at your service. It’s located on Lower Level, and you can choose from:
The Latest Choice: Overdrive
Members of the campus community can expand their audiobook choices even more thanks to our neighbors and partners at the Long Beach Public Library. Overdrive is an online service that provides downloads of audiobooks to a choice of personal MP3 devices. Users also can burn select titles to a CD. Many types of devices (Zune, IPhone, IPod, Creative, etc.) are supported. One selects a book, downloads it through the public library’s portal, and it’s yours to enjoy for the loan period, after which it will “expire,” after which it no longer can be played. Obtaining the Overdrive downloads is totally free to LBPL card holders and can be done from any web-enabled personal computer. Read all about it and see what Overdrive can deliver at the LBPL web page http://www.lbpl.org/. Look for “Databases ”on the left side of the screen, then click “Audiobooks for Download.” The “Quick Start Guide” on the left side of the screen will answer all your questions.
Good news: CSULB students and employees are welcome to apply for a free LBPL library card. Complete the application form http://www.lbpl.org/info/get_a_library_card.asp and bring it to any LBPL site. Neighborhood libraries close to CSULB include Los Altos, El Dorado, Bayshore, and Brewitt http://www.lbpl.org/location/library_locations.asp
