The University Library of California State University, Long Beach, offers junior and senior secondary school students of the Long Beach-Los Angeles-West Orange County Area an outreach program to obtain a University Library card. The purpose of this program is to provide secondary school students the opportunity to enrich their educational experiences through exploration and use of the wealth of resources in an academic library. (Some restrictions to specific resources may apply.)
Junior and senior secondary school students who are enrolled in a Gifted and Talented Program or an Advanced Placement Program are eligible to receive a University Library card. For students who are not graduating, cards may be renewed for one additional year.
University Library cards are issued to junior and senior secondary school students who are enrolled in a Gifted and Talented Program or an Advanced Placement Program. Lists of eligible students must be submitted by the School Librarian to the University Library prior to a student receiving a card. School Librarians should call (562) 985-4011 to find out how to submit the names of eligible students. After the eligibility lists have been received, cards will be issued to eligible students upon presentation of their current high school identification card to the University Library Circulation Desk. Students must know their social security number to receive a card.
