STAT-USA

STAT-USA, a subscription service of the U.S. Department of Commerce, is the site for the U.S. business, economic and trade community, providing authoritative information from the Federal government.

STAT-USA is divided into two main sections:

1.  State of the Nation (SOTN) provides various financial and economic data from throughout the federal government and other related entities. Unlike the "GLOBUS & NTDB" section, SOTN concerns itself with the United States' domestic economy. Listed below are the basic areas of interest and examples of the information they provide.

General Economic Indicators [Consumer Price Index, Producer Price Index, Gross Domestic Product, National Income and Product Accounts (NIPA)]

Housing and Construction [Housing Starts and Building Permits, New Construction, New Home Sales]

Employment [Employment Cost Index, Local Area Employment and Unemployment, Weekly Unemployment Claims Report]

Manufacturing and Industry [Retail Sales, Manufacturing, Trade, Inventories, and Sales, Industrial Production and Capacity Utilization, Current Industry Reports]

Monetary Statistics [Selected Interest Rates (H.15), Foreign Exchange Rates (H.10), Bank Credit (H.8), Money Stock (H.6)]

Economic Policy [Beige Book, Treasury Statements, Humphrey-Hawkins Testimony by FRB Chairman]

2.  GLOBUS and NTDB

GLOBUS (Global Business Opportunities) offers daily trade leads from the Trade Opportunities Program (TOPS), as well as the Department of Agriculture. GLOBUS also offers daily procurement activity from the Defense Logistics Agency, the United Nations, and the Commerce Business Daily leads.  Historical trade leads are available for up to three months. Historical TOPS leads are provided for up to two years.

NTDB (National Trade Data Bank) provides access to Country Commercial Guides, Market Research reports, Best Market reports, Industry Sector Analysis reports, and other programs.
