The Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) isa professional association forscientists in the UK with over 46,000 members worldwide. The RSC is a major publisher and provider of chemical information. You can search all the journals, but only those for which the CSULB Library has a subscription will be available full-text. If you retrieve a journaltowhich we do not subscribe, your clue will be a page askingfor your Userid and Password. Articles unavailable at CSULBwill need to be requested, at no charge, via the Library's Interlibrary Services.
Here are some tips on searching RSC Journals:
Stemming is automatic (RSC automatically searches for all terms using the base of your search terms i.e. pest finds pest, pests, pesticide, etc.)
You can add a + before specific words you want to be inevery result, i.e. +pesticide will only get articles with pesticide in them
You can add a - before words you do not want in your results,i.e. -organophosphate willonly get articles withOUT organophospate in them
Search results are in order of relevance (based on the number of your search terms in the citation and their proxomity to each other).
Constrain by Journal Title : to select a specific journal to search, or all RSC Journals. The Library subscribes to 12 of the 32 titles available (see the title list at the bottom of this Guide) for which you can access full-text of the articles online.
Constrain search by Year : to select a specific year or search all available years
Constrain search by Issue number: to select a specific issue number or search across all available issues
You may type your keywords in any of the areas listed to search in that area only. Most likely you will type your keywords in the "General" box at the bottom.
Title : to search for words in an article title
Authors : to search for authors of articles in RSC journals, e.g. John Smith
Abstract : to search for words in the abstract of an article
Address : to search for words in the address of the authors of articles in RSC journals; e.g.Imperial College
General : to search the full text of RSC journal articles, including title, authors, abstract, author addresses, body of article and references
DISPLAY: Thenumber of articles foundis noted and these citations are displayed 10 at a time newest article first. Click on "full-text" of the citations you want to get the citation and abstract. Do the same again to get the full-text. Only the titles of the journals we subscribe too will come up with the full-text, so please check the list below to be sure we have that subscription.
Journals available through RSC Journals
The following journal titles are available online through RSC Journals service. Journals with anasterisk (*) andhighlighted in yelloware the ones to which CSULB subscribes. Full-text will be available for these titles.

Printing Downloading and E-mailing
Once you have a results list, click the "full-text" button next to the articles you are interested in. The articles that are in journals that we subscribe to will have a "full-text HTML" and a "full-text PDF" button that says "Free of Charge" above it. (Those that we don't subscribe to will say "Purchase Article.") Click either of these buttons to get to thefull text of the article (HTML will look like a regular webpage, PDF will open in Adobe Acrobat Reader).
