SCOPE/COVERAGE

Online Geographical Bibliography (GEOBIB) is the online equivalent of the print index, Current Geographical Publications (REF G112 A5). It is a citation database covering scholarly literature on physical and human geography. The online database goes back to 1985 and contains citations to books, journals, government documents, maps and atlases. Before 1985 use the print edition of Current Geographical Publications.

Availability: 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

On Campus: Through the Internet, connect to the library home page (www.csulb.edu/library), click on ELECTRONIC RESOURCES, then RESEARCH DATABASES then ALPHABETICALLY then select Online Geographical Bibliiography (GEOBIB) from the list.

Off Campus: From home or work, you must access via a proxy server. Remote access requires CSULB authentication and is restricted to students, faculty and staff of CSULB. For help with remote access follow the directions at the Library Access Page. Once connected, follow On Campus instructions above.

SEARCHING HINTS

Keyword Search

  • Use quotation marks for phrases: "urban geography".
  • Use + to mark essential terms: +coastal.
  • Use * to mark important terms: *marine.
  • Use ? to truncate:agricultur? finds agriculture and agricultural.
  • Use field codes before a term to limit the serach to particular fields: skey milwaukee. (Note: this is essential for searching cities to avaoid calling up the city as a place of publication).

D OWNLOADING, PRINTING, E-MAILING

1. Mark the box on the left edge to mark the items you want print or e-mail.

2. Select if you want results all on one page or on separate pages.

3. Type in e-mail if you want results sent, OR use browser print function to print out reformatted results.
