Education-Line

Education-line is a freely accessible database of the full text of conference papers, working papers and electronic literature which supports educational research, policy and practice. It may be searched from on or off campus using the University Library's electronic resources page.

Searching the Database
Education-line may be searched in a variety of methods.  From the opening screen choose one of the following:  browse thesaurus; browse the index; or advanced query.  "Advanced Query" allows the searcher to construct his or her own search strategy using appropriate keywords.  (Since many of the documents in Education-line are British in origin be careful of your spelling.  You may want to try "labor" or "labour".)

Select "advanced query" and enter your search terms in the "anywhere" box to do a simple keyword search.  Then click on the "search" button.

The dollar sign ($) is a truncation symbol. Use it to find variants of a word stem. teach$ becomes teacher, teachers, teaching etc. $ology becomes biology, sociology, technology etc.

Your results are sorted alphabetically by default.  Click on the link to any of the titles and that will display the complete citation and an abstract.  Links for the full text are provided at the bottom of the record.

Saving your results
You may save your results to disk when you display the full text by inserting your disk into the appropriate drive and clicking on the "file" menu at the top right corner of your web browser.  Choose "save as" then select the "a:" drive and change the file name to one of your preference.  Click on the "save" button.

Emailing your results
Education-line does not provide a method for emailing selected records or their full text.   You may, however, copy the article and paste the document into the body of an email message and send it to yourself.

Printing your results
You may print your results when you display the full text by clicking on the "file" menu at the top right corner of your browser.  Select "print" to print the item you are currently displaying.
