What is the scope and coverage?

See the list of full-text journals in ACM.

See the list of available conference proceedings and special interest group (SIG) newsletters.

Use the ACM Digital Library to search all of the Association of Computing Machinery (ACM) publications back to 1950.  Search for citations for journal articles, magazines, transactions, conference proceedings, special interest group papers and much more published by the ACM.  Access the full text of most of the ACM journals, magazines, and transactions as well as current conference proceeding and special interest group newsletters.

Use the Online Guide to Computing Literature to search over 750,000 citations from hundreds of other publishers in addition to the ACM publications.  Search for citations for books, journal articles, magazines, proceedings, theses, dissertations and more.
 

How do I search for a journal article?

1.) Select either the ACM Digital Library or the Guide to Computing Literature. 
Select ACM Digital Library or Guide to Computing Literature.  

2.) Enter your search terms or phrase in the basic search box:
Enter your keywords into the quick search box in the upper right corner. Use the radio button to select ACM Digital Library or Online Guide to Computing Literature.

OR Advanced Search to "use the fields provided to conduct your search based on specific criteria, such as keyword or phrase, author, ISBN or ISSN. Customize your search by specifying month and year the item was published, item type or ACM Computing Classification (CCS) term.  Use these fields independently or combine them."

OR browse the ACM Digital Library by type of ACM Publication:
Browse the Digital Library. We have full text access to the Journals, Magazines, Transacation, and Publications by Affiliated Organizations. We do not have full text access to the Proceedings, Newsletters or Special Interest Groups. 
OR browse the Online Guide to Computing Literature:
  Browse the Online Guide to Computing Literature by Computing Classification System, Keyword, Proper Noun, Author, Review or Publication Type.

Searching Quick Tips:

Use quotes around phrases to search as a phrase.  For example, "apple computer".
Use * as a wildcard symbol.  For example, col*r will search for color or colour. 
The database automatically truncates (adds different endings, -s, -ed, -ing) to search words.

3.) To get "full text" click on the PDF* icon or click on the Publisher Site** icon.
