Circulation

The Circulation Desk is located near the Library entrance. Go here to:

Register to borrow library materials (be sure to bring your current (University ID card)
Check out, renew and return library material
Inquire about books you were unable to locate on the shelves (Search and Hold)
Request that books which are currently checked out be recalled and held for you when they return (You may also initiate a Recall electronically.)
Inquire about lost personal items.

Alternatively, you can use one of the 3 Self-Check stations to check out your own books. Self-check stations are located on 2nd floor at the entrance to the book stacks, on 3rd floor just inside the entrance to the study area, and on the 4th floor at the entrance to the book stacks.

Note 1: The loan period for media materials (audiocassettes, compact discs, videos, and DVDs) is 7 days; 1 renewal allowed.

Note 2: Materials are subject to recall after 21 days.

Note 3: Loan periods listed above do not apply to materials borrowed through LINk+ or ILLiad.

You may use COAST, the CSULB Library catalog, to View Your Library Account or Renew Books (after you have Created a Library Password!). When viewing your library record on COAST you can determine what materials are checked out to you, renew items checked out to you, and see what materials are on hold for you. If you need materials not available at CSULB, you have several options.

Returning Library Materials - Book Drops

Borrowed materials (except those borrowed through ILLiad or through LINK+) may be returned at any of the six library book bins on campus. The map below shows the location of those book drops.

Beach Drive across from Residence Housing (RH2)
Horn Center entrance
State and East Campus Drive Turnaround (near the Science Building)
South Turnaround between Education and Macintosh Buildings
Two book drops at the Library entrance
Parkside Commons Cafeteria Area
