Registration: CSULB Library welcomes eligible students, faculty, staff, and administrators from institutions which have signed partnership agreements with the library. Present evidence (normally a picture id with registration fee payment sticker) to the Circulation Desk of currently enrolled/employed status at the partner institution to obtain library borrowing privileges at CSULB.
Parking: In general, parking at CSULB is by permit only. Daily permits, available from yellow vending machines at several locations adjacent to parking lots, currently cost $3.25. Metered parking (@ $1.75 per hour) is available on the service road which runs parallel to 7th Street. In general it is difficult for visitors to find parking near the library except on weekends. Always read carefully the signs posted at the entrances to campus parking lots; some lots are reserved for university employees at all times. On weekends, visitors may park without permits in student lots 11 and 14 and in other lots designated for student parking.
Loan Period: Ten books or other items may be borrowed at any one time. The student loan period is 21 days. Faculty may borrow books for 120 days, subject to recall after 21 days. Media items vary from 3 hours to 7 days. Reserve items and bound periodicals may not be borrowed by reciprocal borrowers.
Returns: It is the responsibility of the borrower to return items directly to CSULB Library.
Library Obligations: A fee of 25¢ per day per book currently is assessed for late returns. Media items are assessed at 60¢ per hour to $1 per day, depending on the item. Any costs for replacement of lost or damaged materials are the responsibility of the borrower; CSULB currently charges a service fee of $15 plus a standard replacement of $65. Failure to satisfy any CSULB library obligations may result in suspension of borrowing privileges and/or access to transcripts and registration at the borrower's home library.
Electronic Information Resources: CSULB students and faculty have first priority use of the information databases licensed by CSULB Library. Reciprocal borrowers may use the databases in the library (though very limited numbers of computers are available), but remote access is not permitted.
