American Memory, Library of Congress Map Collections, 1500-2003
inks to hundreds of scanned maps held at the Library of Congress. They can be printed or downloaded.

CIA World Factbook
Contains CIA maps of the world's nations and regions.

Color Landform Atlas of the United States
View and print vivid "shaded relief" and landform maps of individual states.

Digital Atlas of the United States
By Prof. William Bowen of California State University, Northridge. View socioeconomic maps of the U.S., California and Los Angeles area.

GeoData Information Sources
Produced by the University of Iowa's Center for Global and Regional Environmental Research. It contains an extensive list of web sites that provide world, national, and local maps for viewing and/or printing.

MapTech Online Maps. View topographic maps, aerial photographs, nautical charts and aeronautical charts online.

National Atlas of the United States
Create socioeconomic maps of the United States, individual states, or counties.  Similar to the Demographic Data Server described above.

National Geographic's Map Machine. Instantly find a wide variety of governmental and internet maps for specific locations. Very good site.

Perry Castaneda Library at University of Texas-Austin
This map library has digitized hundreds of its maps and also linked to numerous individual map sites, available for your viewing and printing.

Terraserver USA Click and point map of the world will bring you detailed satellite imagery. Accesses images of North America and Europe. Up to 60 countries provided. It provides side links to topographic maps, city maps and even news links related to the area. An excellent site.

TopoZone
Seamless access to more than 56,000 USGS topographic quadrangles. As TopoZone self-describes, �We've got every USGS 1:100,000, 1:25,000, and 1:24,000 scale map for the entire United States; Alaska (1:63,360).� User beware: some areas are not available, some important marginalia data, and map dates are not provided.

Produced by Penn State University. Select maps of the world's nations or states/provinces. Then add selected physiographic or socioeconomic features. Images downloadable.

Live Search (Microsoft)
Create your own maps, e-mail or download them. It can provide driving directions and distances. (Works best with microsoft browsers).

MapQuest
Another "create your own map" site. Contains more that 3 million mapable sites, both within the United States and around the world. Also provides international city maps and airport maps. Includes a world atlas.

Rand McNally: The Travel Site

Create maps, find driving directions. Provides good detail on street maps.

Presented by "Indo.com" this site offers a distance calculator. It gives worldwide mileage in "as the crow flies" lines.

U.S. Naval Observatory Astronomical Observations
Find times of sunrise, sunset, moonrise, eclipses and other astronomical data.

U.S. Gazetteer. U.S. Bureau of the Census
Includes brief listing of census statistics, zip code information and other thumbnail data. It can also create a printable map of your site.
