WHY USE COAST?
COAST, the CSULB Library catalog, provides information on items the Library owns and where they are located. Items include books, periodicals and journals, media sources, government documents, microforms, rare materials, and internet resources.
WHO CAN USE COAST?
COAST is a public web site and can be used by anyone. However, there are some resources and functions delivered via COAST which are restricted access. If you are a student or faculty or staff member of CSULB, you will need to create your Library Password and review our access requirements so that all resources are available to you without restriction.
HOW TO GET TO COAST
SAVING SEARCH RESULTS
- PRINTING
- Printing is available at most computers in the Library (however, not on the upper floors). The easiest way to print is to mark your records and export them to the screen.
- MARKING/SAVING RECORDS
- On the left side of the results pages, you will see a column headed MARK. Click on the box in the column next to those records you wish to save and then click on the button at the bottom of the screen labeled SAVE MARKED RECORDS. You need to do this on each screen of results for your search.
- EXPORTING RECORDS (i.e. SAVING your results)
- Use the appropriate button(s) on the COAST screens to save/mark/export records.
- EMAILING
- Click on Export or Export Saved List.
- Click on Email , enter your complete email address (e.g. santaclaus@csulb.edu), and then Click on Submit. The record(s) will arrive in email with a subject line "From COAST".
- PRINTING FROM THE SCREEN
- Click on Export or Export Saved List.
- Click on Browser and then Click on Submit.
- Marked records will appear on the computer screen in one list.
- Click on Print.
- DOWNLOADING TO A DISK
- Click on Export or Export Saved List.
- Click on Local Disk and then Click on Submit.
- Click on Save File.
- Name the file as you wish with the .txt extension (e.g. export.txt).
