Site License Installation Instructions

The Minitab for Windows site license user agreement has been renewed for the period of July 1, 2008 through June 30, 2009. The current license between Minitab Inc and CSU allows for the unlimited use of Minitab software on every CSULB owned computer. In addition, all students, staff and faculty members can access timed copies of Minitab for installation onto personal computers for academic use. It requires an annual authorization file to activate the software. Please uninstall any earlier version of Minitab, starting with Minitab 14, which is no longer supported.

System Requirements

Minitab 15 Statistical Software has the following recommended system requirements:

  • Operating System - Minitab 15 English: Microsoft Windows 2000, XP, or Vista.

  • RAM - 512 MB or more

  • Processor - 1 GHz 32-bit or 64-bit processor

  • Hard Disk Space - 125 MB (minimum) free space available

  • Screen Resolution - 1024 x 768 or higher

  • Adobe® Reader - Version 5.0 or higher required for Meet Minitab

 

Software Installation

 

1. Insert the Minitab CD-R and the autoplay screen will appear. If you have downloaded the software, launch the Minitab installation by clicking on the setup.exe file found within the Minitab folder.

2. Read and accept the terms of the license agreement and click Next.

3. The default destination folder is C:\Program Files\Minitab 15\. You can change this location if necessary. Otherwise, click Next.

4. Check or uncheck the option to include a desktop shortcut. When ready, click the Install button.

5. It will take a moment to install the software.

6. Minitab 15.1.20.0 is the most current version and there are not updates as of July 24, 2008. Check the box below to double-check version updates. You can always check for updates at a later time from within Minitab. When ready, click the Finish button and the Software Manager will check for updates.

7. As shown below, the Software Manager did not find any update for Minitab. Click the Finish button.

8. Launch Minitab and you will be ask to identify the License File. It is named "minitab.lic". Click the Browse button.

9. Navigate to the "Minitab 15" folder and select the "minitab.lic" file. Click the Open button.

10. Click the OK button to activate Minitab.

11. Once Minitab launches, select Help à About Minitab and you can confirm the Minitab version number as shown below.
