CSULB participates in the CSU-Microsoft Campus Agreement [opens new window], which only allows the installation of Microsoft Office 2003 for Windows on university owned computers. Campus technology staff can download Office 2003 from Software Depot for this purpose. Faculty, staff and students may purchase Office 2003 at the University Computer Store [opens new window] for personally owned computers used primarily for university business. Contact your division, department or college technologist for assistance.

System Requirements

The following system requirements are the minimum necessary to run Microsoft Office 2003.

  • Computer and processor: Personal computer with an Intel Pentium 233-MHz or faster processor (Pentium III recommended); optional installation of Business Contact Manager for Outlook 2003 requires a 450-MHz or faster processor (Pentium III recommended)

  • Memory: 128 MB of RAM or greater; optional installation of Business Contact Manager for Outlook 2003 requires 256 MB of RAM

  • Hard disk: 400 MB of available hard-disk space; optional installation files cache (recommended) requires an additional 200 MB of available hard-disk space; optional installation of Business Contact Manager for Outlook 2003 requires an additional 190 MB of available hard-disk space

  • Drive:CD-ROM or DVD drive

  • Display: Super VGA (800 x 600) or higher-resolution monitor

  • Operating system: Microsoft Windows™ 2000 with Service Pack 3 (SP3), Windows XP, or later

Installation

Campus-owned Computers

If the software you download from Software Depot is in the ISO format and your CD-burning software does not support ISO images, OAT recommends downloading ISO Recorder [opens new window].

Microsoft Office 2003 is part of the CSULB Microsoft Campus Agreement Program. Activate the product using CSULB's volume license key ( serial number ) for this product during the installation process [opens new window]. The license key is displayed as part of the product details in Software Depot. Log in to Software Depot and then click on the "My Software" link in the upper left hand corner of the page. Click on the link labeled "Secure Download" for the product and activation code.

Personally-owned Computers

The University's Volume Licensing Media and keys may NOT be used for Microsoft Office 2003 installations on personally owned computers used primarily for university business. For those installations, faculty and staff must purchase a media kit from the bookstore.
