Products

The CSU-ESRI software site licenses include ArcGIS (Desktop and ArcINFO) and extensions (3D Analyst, Geostatistical Analyst, Network Analyst, Spatial Analyst, ArcPress, TIN, COGO, GRID, Arcscan, Arcstorm) on Windows and UNIX platforms; ArcView 3.x and 8.2 and Avenue on all platforms (UNIX, PC/Windows, Macintosh); PC ArcINFO (DOS and Windows); and 20 ArcCAD licenses per campus.

  • ArcGIS 9 with an upcoming release of ArcGIS 9.3 [ArcView, ArcEditor, ArcINFO] and extensions [Spatial Analyst, Geostatistical Analyst, ArcScene, Network Analyst, 3D Analyst, Survey Analyst, Arcscan, Arcstorm (Unix only), ArcPress and Tracking Analyst] on NT, Windows 2000, XP and UNIX platforms
  • ArcIMS (Internet Map Server)
  • ArcView GIS 3.x, Spatial Analyst, Network Analyst, 3D Analyst, ArcPress for ArcView, ArcView Internet Map Server and Avenue on all platforms [UNIX, NT, Win95, Windows 2000, XP, Macintosh (up to version 3.0)]
  • Image Analysis and Stereo Analyst for those campuses participating in the ERDAS Imagine Site license
  • ArcPAD
  • MapObjects and the MapObjects Internet Map Server; ArcLogistics Route
  • NetEngine; Atlas GIS; BusinessMap Pro
  • University Data Bundle (includes ArcWorld, ArcUSA, ArcScene World Tour,
    Digital Chart of the World, US Streets Database).

The CSU-Leica Geosystems license provide laboratory use of ERDAS Image products. These include Imagine Professional, Vector, Virtual GIS, OrthoBASE and Sereo Analyst.

License

California State University, Long Beach subscribes to the California State University Geograhic Information Systems (GIS) Specialty Center. It is an annual subscription coordinated by the Office of Academic Technology.

The subscription provides software from Environmental Systems Research Institute, Inc. (ESRI) and Leica Geosystems, Inc. for installation on university-owned computers only.

ESRI and Leica Geosystems software licenses requires division, department or college technologists to install software products on university-owned workstations. Contact your division, department or college technologist for assistance.

Key Features

The ESRI and Leica Geosystems software included as part of the GIS Specialty Center subscription is mission critical for the CSULB Geography Department.  It provides mapping, remote sensing and image processing tools for merging social and physical data by geographic boundaries. Faculty and staff from other divisions/colleges/departments can request software installations through their technologist.

System Requirements

The system requirements will vary by product title, but a minimum system would include the following. This is based on installing ArcView 9.2 on PC-Intel Windows 2000 Professional.

  • Processor: Intel Core Duo, Intel Pentium or Intel Xeon processors
  • 1.6 GHz recommended or higher
  • Intel Pentium/Celeron family, or AMD K6/Athlon/Duron family, or compatible processor recommended
  • Memory/RAM - 1 GB minimum, 2 GB or higher recommended
  • 1.5 gigabytes (GB) of available hard disk space (varies by product)
  • Display properties - Greater than 256 color depth, Super VGA (1024 x 768) or higher-resolution at normal size 96 dpi
  • Swap Space is determined by the operating system, 500 MB minimum
  • CD-ROM or DVD drive
  • Keyboard and Microsoft Mouse or compatible pointing device

Installation instructions will vary for each ESRI or Leica Geosystems product. Contact your division, department or college technologist for assistance. The software is not currently available through Software Depot.
