The Instructor’s Guide to BeachBoard Basics: Creating and Posting Course Documents

In this hands-on, one hour workshop you’ll learn the basics of how to use BeachBoard, everything you need to know to get up and running in BeachBoard. In particular, you’ll learn how to login to BeachBoard, how to access your courses, and even how to post your syllabus and course handouts to BeachBoard.

This workshop is taught in Intructional Technology Support Services lab on the lower level of the University Library. Reservations are not necessary.

Calibrated Peer Review (CPR)

This one hour workshop will introduce you to software called Calibrated Peer Review (CPR) that makes implementing writing assignments both more effective and more practical.  CPR is a web based (http://cpr.molsci.ucla.edu) writing and critical thinking instructional tool that delivers writing assignments to students and facilitates a structured anonymous peer review. It is platform independent as students and instructors access CPR through a web browser. It is also discipline independent since one can create a writing assignment on any topic. Since this program was developed through the Molecular Science Project, most of the prepublished assignments are chemistry or mathematics based, the this workshop will show you how its possible to modify existing assignments and even create your own.

This workshop is taught in Intructional Technology Support Services lab on the lower level of the University Library. Reservations are not necessary.

Adobe Captivate

In this one-hour workshop you will learn about an innovative piece of screen capture software.  The power of this software lies in its ability to not only capture screen shots, mouse movements and typing, but its ability to integrate into your powerpoint presentations.  Your slides come alive as a Quicktime movie with the added sound of your voice, text boxes, highlights, and more.  You will see real course examples being used here at CSULB by faculty.  You can even learn how to edit your final work and provide a text script for your projects (ADA compliant) that you can add later, not having to start your project from scratch.

This workshop is taught in Intructional Technology Support Services lab on the lower level of the University Library. Reservations are not necessary.

Workshops are facilitated by ITSS or eLearning consultants. Questions? Contact ITSS.
