Clickers

Clickers are wireless handheld devices that allow students to respond to classroom polls, quizzes and sign attendence, regardless of class size and common student dynamics.   These simple remotes transmit individual student responses to an instructor's laptop to record and to share class feedback back to the students.

Clickers Can:

  • Increase class participation and improve attendance
  • Spark debate and discussion in class
  • Provide easy grade opportunities
  • Assess class understanding of a topic
  • Identify students who need additional assistance
  • Instructors can use clickers as a tool to gauge students' understanding
  • As a quiz/exam delivery system
  • They can integrate clicker results with BeachBoard.

Standardization:

A non-binding resolution via the Academic Senate and supported by Associated Students Inc. (ASI) encourages CSULB instructors to utilize i>clicker.

For more information, please contact ITSS.

For Students:

i>clickers are available in the CSULB Bookstore.

IMPORTANT:

There is an update available for both i>clicker PC and i>clicker Mac users to version 5.4. The i>clicker 5.4 version removes the need for having multiple folders by completely changing the file structure.

5.3 and 5.4 will both be supported for the fall 2009 semester, then we will move exclusively to 5.4.

You can update your i>clicker program by double-clicking the Web Update icon (Web Update icon for i>clicker 5.3for i>clicker 5.3; Web Update icon for i>clicker 5.4for i>clicker 5.4) on the MyCoursePC or MyCourseMac folder.
