Recovering a Password

Recovering a Lost or Forgotten BeachBoard Password

There are three ways for instructors to recover a BeachBoard password:

  1. Go to http://www.csulb.edu/tim/recover.html and change your MyCSULB/BeachBoard password by following the on-screen instructions.
    • Enter your nine digit campus ID.
    • Click the Forgot your password? link.
    • Answer the four challenge questions you entered when you created your original password. The answers are case sensitive.
    • Create a new password.
  2. Visit the Technology Help Desk's Walk-In Service Center in the lobby of the Horn Center and have your MyCSULB/BeachBoard password reset. Please remember to bring your campus ID.
  3. Contact the CSULB Human Resources Information System (HRIS) Helpdesk at (562) 985-7393 and request that they email you a link to reset your MyCSULB/BeachBoard password. This service is only available to CSULB instructors and staff, not students. HRIS will send a password reset email message to your "preferred" email address, the address you or your department previously set for you in MyCSULB.

More Information

Q: Can you tell me my password over the telephone?
A: No. Not only does BeachBoard Services not have access to your BeachBoard password, revealing any password over the telephone would be a violation of University policies and state/federal privacy laws. However, while the University can't tell you your password over the telephone, you can call CSULB's Human Resources Information System (HRIS) Helpdesk at (562) 985-7393 and request that they email you a link so that you can reset your own MyCSULB/BeachBoard password.

Q: I entered the answers to the four challenge questions but the answers were not accepted. What are my options?
A: You can either visit the Technology Help Desk's Walk-In Service Center in the lobby of the Horn Center or contact the CSULB Human Resources Information System (HRIS) Helpdesk at (562) 985-7393. Both will be able to reset your password.

Q: My preferred campus email address is incorrect, so the HRIS helpdesk cannot send me the link to reset my password. What are my options?
A: You can either go to http://www.csulb.edu/tim/recover.html and and answer the challenge/response questions you entered when you first set up your MyCSULB/BeachBoard password or you can visit the Technology Help Desk's Walk-In Service Center in the lobby of the Horn Center and have your MyCSULB/BeachBoard password reset.
