Changing the Default Language of a BeachBoard Course

BeachBoard's Language Pack tool lets instructors change the default language of a BeachBoard Course from English to:

  • Arabic
  • Deutsch (German)
  • Español (Spanish)
  • Français (French)
  • Italiano (Italian)
  • Japanese
  • Nederlands (Dutch)
  • Português (Portuguese)
  • Simplified Chinese
  • Traditional Chinese

Changing a the Language Pack changes the course's homepage, messages, buttons, menus, and Control Panel so that they appear in the selected language.

However, changing the Language Pack does not convert or translate the instructor's uploaded content or text created by students in emails, discussion board posts, etc. It is the instructor's and students' responsibility to upload content already composed in the target language.

Change the Language

  1. Login to BeachBoard. https://beachboard.csulb.edu/
  2. Under My Courses, click the name of the course in which you would like to change the language.
  3. Click the course's Control Panel link.
  4. Under Course Options, click the Settings link.

  5. Click the Set Language Pack link.

  6. Select a language from the drop-down list.

  7. Click Enforce Language Pack.

  8. Click the Submit button Submit button.

If a Language Pack is not chosen for a course the course will display in English which is the System Default language.

Spell Check and Language Packs

The Spell Check tool, located in the text box editor, supports American English, Great Britain English, French, and Spanish. The Spell Check tool may not work with other languages. If Spell Check does not recognize the language, it will use a supported dictionary such as English or French.
