Changing a BeachBoard Email Address

BeachBoard’s faculty data—including name, campus id, and email address—is sent directly from MyCSULB and is updated nightly. Therefore, all email address changes must be made in MyCSULB.

Change Your Preferred Email Address

  1. Go to https://my.csulb.edu/
  2. Login to MyCSULB with your campus ID and password. The same campus ID and password you use to login to BeachBoard.
  3. Under My Menu, click the My Personal Information link.
  4. Under Contact Information, click the Email Addresses link.
  5. Enter your new email address
    • To enter a new, on-campus address choose On-Campus from the Email Type pull-down list.
    • To enter a new, off-campus address, choose Home from the Email Type pull-down list.
  6. Select the Preferred checkbox to the right of your new email address.
  7. Click the Save button.

MyCSULB will process your email address change request and will update your email address in BeachBoard by noon of the following day.

More Information

Q: I can't find my campus ID or password. How can I recover this information?
A: Your campus ID is the nine digit number immediately beneath your photograph on your campus identification card. Note: There are no letters in a campus ID. The "0"s in your campus ID are zeros. As for recovering or resetting your password, you have three options:

  1. Go to http://www.csulb.edu/tim/recover.html and recover your MyCSULB/BeachBoard password by following the on-screen instructions.
  2. Visit the Technology Help Desk's Walk-In Service Center at either location: lobby of the Horn Center, Academic Services 18, or Lower Level Library 012 and have your MyCSULB/BeachBoard password reset. Please remember to bring your campus ID.
  3. Contact the CSULB Human Resources Information System (HRIS) Helpdesk at (562) 985-7393 and request that they email you a link to reset your MyCSULB/BeachBoard password. This service is only available to CSULB instructors and staff, not students. HRIS will send a password reset email message to your "preferred" email address, the address you or your department previously set for you in MyCSULB.

Q: Why can't I see my BeachBoard emails in my Hotmail account?
A: Hotmail, for reasons beyond the University's control, has been assuming that all email messages from BeachBoard are spam and moves those messages to the junk E-Mail folder. To view your BeachBoard email messages in Hotmail:

  1. Login to your Hotmail account.
  2. Click the Junk E-mail folder.

To prevent Hotmail from automatically filing future emails from BeachBoard in your Junk E-mail folder, click on any email from BeachBoard in your Hotmail Junk E-Mail folder. In the message, click the “Not Junk Mail” button. This identifies the sender as a trusted sender. Future emails from that sender will no longer be considered junk e-mail by Hotmail.
