Manage Groups

Add a Group

  1. Log into BeachBoard at https://beachboard.csulb.edu/.
  2. Under My Courses, click the name of the course into which you would like to add a group.
  3. Click the course's Control Panel link.
  4. Under User Management, click the Manage Groups link.
  5. Click the Add Group icon Add Group icon.
  6. Under Group Information, type in the Group's:
    • Name
    • Description (optional)
  7. Under Group Options, select the privileges you would like to make available for that specific group.
    • Group Discussion Board - This feature allows the instructor and group members to use the Discussion Board.
    • Group Virtual Classroom - We recommend to use the Elluminate Live! virtual classroom instead.
    • Group File Exchange - This feature allows the instructor and group members to post files/documents.
    • Group Email - This feature allows the instructor and group members to email members within that specific group.
  8. Next Group Available, select Yes.
  9. Click Submit.
  10. Once you have clicked Submit, BeachBoard will show you a receipt. Click OK to return to the Manage Groups page, where you will now see the new group.

Add Users to a Group

  1. Log into BeachBoard at https://beachboard.csulb.edu/.
  2. Under My Courses, click the name of the course into which you would like to add users to a group.
  3. Click the course's Control Panel link.
  4. Under User Management, click the Manage Groups link.
  5. To the right of the desired group, click Modify.
  6. Click the Add Users to Group link.
  7. In the Search box, type in either student(s) Last Name, Campus ID, or Email and then click Search button. Or to see your whole class Roster, leave the Search box blank and click the Search button.
  8. Select the student(s) that you would like to add to the group.
  9. Click Submit.
  10. Once you have clicked Submit, BeachBoard will show you a receipt. Click OK to return to the Manage Groups page.
Note: You must repeat these steps for each of your groups.
