BeachBoard 2.0 - The Implementation Plan
ENVISIONING
- This initial phase will consist of cooperative cross-sectional teams including members of student, faculty, and staff level participants to construct a high level project plan.
- Milestones:
- a. Deliver short vision document (1-2 pages) outlining the goals for the implementation and the desired timeline for the rest of the project.
PLANNING
- Three teams will convene to focus on templates/training/conversion, system administration/Peoplesoft integration, and assessment/early warning systems.
- This phase will flush out a definitive list of requirements, and it will drive decisions to be made in the process including training, course conversion, content management, and integration points while defining the ongoing support model and policies. The teams will work with ANGEL implementation consultants not only to create a final project plan incorporating milestones and dates for completion, but to begin to customize and become ANGEL experts in their focus areas.
- Generate a list of requirements for the implementation project and a timeline.
- Perform foundational training/education for the core team members.
- Create project web site for ongoing communication/updates.
DEVELOPMENT
- The development phase is the execution of the plan laid out during the planning phase. At the end of the phase, the system should be ready to be used for your campus pilot in summer 2009.
- Develop the integration programs and procedures Ð framework to be provided by OAT/UCES/ITS.
- Implement campus specific components Ð Logos, authentication, etc.
- Create training and education materials.
- Begin loading converted pilot courses.
- Begin training of pilot end users.
PILOT
- Summer 2009. In a controlled yet live environment, a limited number of participants will use ANGEL to support summer school instruction and provide feedback on the system. The feedback is will be incorporated into the ANGEL configuration prior to the system wide rollout.
- Milestones:
- Conduct a controlled live environment test in summer 2009.
- Obtain feedback and incorporate into the material.
- Continue instructional designer/instructor training.
- Continue creating/converting courses to be launched.
- Increase the number of courses/programs for fall 2009.
- Timeline: ~ 8 weeks
REFINEMENT
- The refinement stage takes ongoing feedback from the teams and users, prioritizes the requests and matches them with the goals of the project. Additional courses prepped for fall 2009 roll-out.
- Make revisions based on the teams and users observations and feedback.
- Prepare for rollout in next fall term.
LAUNCH
- In January 2010 the final configuration is deployed to all users with the completion of ANGEL training and course migrations prepared for live instruction. The support network is completed and in place for the initial launch to support the entire university. Peoplesoft integration and LDAP are functional. Blackboard is turned off.
