Main Lab: PH3-42

We have two large (500 and 1000 gal.)
recirculating seawater holding tanks for
fishes
and sharks in the lab. In addition, we have a
large seawater table for
maintaining rays and
smaller fishes.

Just outside our lab we have several large (1000
and 1300 gal.)
recirculating seawater tanks for
maintaining larger fishes and sharks.

We have an electronics lab for building acoustic
transmitters and working
on testing equipment.
We also have a polarizing dissection scope for
work on fish otoliths.

We have several static respirometers that are
used to measure
the metabolic rates of nearshore
gamefishes and elasmobranchs.

We have also have some space to accommodate some
of the needs of our grad students

Callinectes (22' Glacier Bay): The RV
Callinectes is our newest research vessel. She
is mainly used for offshore research, pelagic
fish tracking, and as a support vessel for our
research at Catalina. The Callinectes is powered
by two Suzuki four stroke 70 HP outboards
providing a quiet fuel efficient boat for
pelagic tracking.

Tracker (15' Boston Whaler): The Tracker is our
customized nearshore tracking platform. The
Tracker was donated to our program by Mr Joyce
Bersuch.
