Beach Entrepreneur Boot Camp

The 2nd Annual Beach Entrepreneur Boot Camp. A 6-week campus workshop sponsored by the College of Business Administration and the City of Long Beach Economic Development provides an opportunity for students and community members to develop Start-Ups, Business Plans, Marketing Plans, Financial Management and Legal Structures.

CSULB CBA Instructor, Bruce Sparks, returns for this 2nd annual workshop to teach an intense overview of how to build a business plan with support and resources provided by Partneur and StarVizn. Upon completion of the program, a certificate of training in entrepreneurship will be awarded to participants who complete the 6 week program. This program is completely FREE and available for anyone to participate.

7/10/18 - Week One:  Discussion of group formation.

7/17/18 - Week Two: Overview of the business plan and market research.

7/24/18 - Week Three: Writing a marketing plan.

7/31/18 –Week Four: Workshop financial projections.

8/7/18- Week 5: Choosing a legal structure and other regulatory burdens. Also, how to finance your business.

8/14/18- Week 6: Pitchfest competition and certificate awards.

What should I bring to the Beach Entrepreneur Bootcamp?

You are not required to bring anything to participate however optional items include; business cards, laptop or other note taking materials.  You are welcome to bring personal snacks as food and beverages will not be provided at this event.

Can I participate if I don't have a business idea or team?

Everyone is welcome to attend the Beach Entrepreneur Boot Camp - students, business owners, community members, etc. If you don't have a team or a business idea, this event will provide an opportunity for you to join or create what you need.

How can I qualify to receive the Certificate in Training?

To receive the certificate, you must sign in at all six workshops and submit the required assignments. The certificates will be presented at the final meeting on August 14th.

What materials will be provided to me from this event?

Presentation slides prepared by the Instructor will emailed to workshop attendees after each workshop.

What is the format of each workshop?

Each workshop will discuss a specific topic relating to creating a business plan (see schedule PDF for more infomation). Within the 3-hour workshop, breaks will be provided for independent team work and one-on-one questions with event instructors and support staff.

Can I pitch my business idea at this event?  Are prizes available?

The final meeting on August 14th will provide an opportunity for teams to pitch their business idea to community leaders.  Check the competition criteria (PDF) to see if you are eligible.  

StarVizn is sponsoring prize money for the top 3 winners of the Beach Entrepreneur Boot Camp pitch competition.  First place will receive $1000.  Second place will receive $600.  Third place will receive $400.  All three winners will also receive free access to Partneur, an online platform to support entrepreneurship.
