******* HIV Testing Study *******
CSULB Student Health Services is conducting a study evaluating a future over-the-counter rapid HIV test that you run and read by yourself. If you are interested in getting tested for HIV through this study. You must be 18 years or older and cannot have received a rapid HIV test within the last 6 months. Eligible participants will be compensated for time and travel. For more information, please call (562) 985-4609.
Current Health Issues of Interest:
Gardasil Vaccine: This vaccine prevents the four most common types of Human Papilloma Virus (HPV). This disease, HPV, causes genital warts and cervical cancer. You will receive a series of three injections over a 6-month time period. Each shot costs $119.40 in the SHS. If you are interested in getting this vaccine, you will need to make an appointment at the Student Health Services. On the day of your appointment, you will first meet with a health educator for a few minutes regarding the vaccine and HPV. If you are 18 or younger and you have NO health insurance, you may qualify for free Gardasil vaccination. Please call us to find out more information. (562) 985-2727 or (562) 985-4609.

HIV Testing & Counseling
This is a free and confidential service for students. We use an oral swab technique to collect your sample; we do not use blood! You will get your results back in the same day. We have appointments available throughout the week. Call for an appointment.
Sexual Health Awareness Workshop (SHAW)
Want more information about sex? Birth control? Sexually transmitted infections? Safer sex? Pap smears? Then attend our workshop and learn more about the gynecological examination (pap smears), HIV & STIs, and birth control methods. This workshop will help you decide what type of birth control is right for you, how to have safer sex, and how to reduce your risk for unintended pregancy. Call for an appointment.
Nutrition Counseling
This program will restart in Fall 2008.
Want to lose weight? Gain weight? On a vegetarian diet and concerned about getting enough protein? Our peer nutrition counselors will tailor the free, one-hour sessions to meet your needs. Print the following form, fill it out completely; and bring it to the HRC.
