President Robert C. Maxson retires after 11 years and CSULB's current President F. King Alexander begins his campus leadership.
Music Department Renamed, 2008
The music department is officially renamed The Bob Cole Conservatory of Music.
President's Forum on International Human Rights, 2008
The campus launched the first President's Forum on International Human Rights. The 2008 theme was "Modern Genocides and Global Responsibilities." Over 6,000 students, faculty, staff and community members participated.
Homecoming Returns to Fall, 2008
In 2008, Homecoming officially returns to the fall with the theme 49er Days.

“Raise Your Voice” was held at the University Student Union Southwest Terrace where interest groups, informational booths, and the candidate parties got the opportunity to recruit students interest to vote on November 4th, 2008.
