Joining Delta Lambda Phi

Membership is open to men of all races, colors, creeds, and sexual orientation, upon approval of the local chapter and fulfillment of the requirements prescribed by the National Fraternity and the individual chapter.

The path to Brotherhood can be represented by the following diagram:

INTEREST --> RUSH --> PLEDGE EDUCATION--> BROTHERHOOD

Rush

The Rush period is a time for those men who are interested in joining DLP to get to know the Brothers and the Brotherhood, and for the Brothers to get to know the potential future members of the fraternity. Rush consists of a series of events tailored around the idea of getting to know one another.

Rushees -- potential members -- are encouraged to attend as many events as possible. All events are open to the public. Some events may require a minimal fee (such as bowling). At the end of Rush, the chapter extends Bids -- invitations to Join our Pledge Education Program.

Check out our calendar for current Rush events.

Pledge Education Program

The pledging process is usually conducted over a eight to ten week period with meetings once a week. Each meeting is conducted by the pledge class officers under the supervision of the Pledge Educator. The purpose of the pledge process is to instruct brothers-in-training on Fraternity administration and to facilitate initial social interactions within the group. Each meeting is divided into two parts: instruction and planning. The instruction segment consists of discussion of Fraternity operation that corresponds to the Chapter Handbook. The planning segment consists of planning events for the group with the pledge class officers presiding.

The pledge process is closely monitored. Weekly minutes, pledge exams, and other records are transmitted to the Pledge Educator. The conclusion of the
program consists of a proctored final examination covering Fraternity ritual and operation, and the submission of the pledge notebooks.

Hazing

There shall be no hazing or informal initiation in connection with the functions of any chapter. The mistreatment of pledges, members, or any other persons at any time is considered a violation of the purposes of the Chapter and the National Fraternity. Any hazing activities witnessed should be reported to the our National Headquarters and the CSULB Office of Student Life and Development (USU-206).

Delta Lambda Phi is a social fraternity...we're not a sex club. Pledges are forbidden from forming romantic or sexual relationships with the Brothers and vice versa.
