When did you begin your career at LBSC?

My career began in 1955. It was the first year that LBSC was putting together a Football program. Jack Montgomery, who was the Division Chair of the Health, Physical Education and Recreation, called and asked me to be the Line Coach. I took the offer and was part of the first football team at LBSC.

Describe your Experience at LBSC.

It was an exciting time to be part of a college that was quickly growing. During my tenure, I taught a variety of sports and fitness classes, professional courses in Elementary Physical Education, Secondary Methods, Coaching Football, Individual Sports, Recreation and Administration of Physical Education and Athletics. I coached Football, Tennis, Golf and served as the intramural director Athletic Administrator and Chair of the Department of Men's Physical Education from 1966 to 1978. Over the years, the department grew as the campus grew. I remember saying, "They will never use all 320 acres". However, I was proven wrong. The campus today is unique and amazing.

What was one of your most memorable experiences while at LBSC?

My most memorable experience was being hired at LBSC. I was thrilled and happy to have been offered such an opportunity. In addition,

Do you still stay connected to the University? If so, how?

I am involved with the university. I attend athletic games when I have the opportunity to do so but I am limited because of my physical capabilities. My wife and I enjoy the performances at the Carpenter Performing Arts Center.

What are you doing today?

I am currently retired and I am spending a lot of time with my family. I have six children, sixteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. I enjoy watching my grandchildren's games. In addition, I enjoy playing golf when I can. I do not play as much as I use to.

What two words would best describe the campus during the time you served?

Unbelievable growth!
