“The Danger in Potentially Dangerous”

Published on September 14, 2017

A guest lecture by Lawrence DiStasi, author of Branded: How Italian Immigrants Became ‘Enemies’ During World War II and Una Storia Segreta: The Secret History of Italian American Evacuation and Internment during World War II

Lawrence DiStasi will discuss his new book, Branded: How Italian Immigrants Became ‘Enemies’ During WWII, with emphasis on the label “potentially dangerous.” The government term, though it formally applied only to those interned and excluded, actually was operational for all 600,000 Italian enemy aliens who were restricted. Copies of Branded will be available for purchase and signing.
