Undifferentiated Cell The undifferentiated cell. The cells are cuboidal in shape and exhibit a well developed microvillus border. Numerous electron dense bodies located within menbrane delineated vacuoles occur scattered spasmodically in the apical region of the cell. The cytoplasm of the cells contain numerous free ribosomes and a well developed Golgi complex. The nucleus is conspicuous. Septate desmossomes join the apices of the cells. NB. Figure c shows a degenerating cell containing a nucleus in a state of atrophy beneath a layer of undifferentiated cells. bl = basal lamina dnu = degenerating nucleus eb = electron dense body gb = Golgi body m = muscle mv = microvillus border pc = pallial cavity r = ribosomes sd = septate desmosome nu = nucleus Scale bar represents 2 micrometers
