Epithelium on Ventral Surface of Kidney Floor

Low power TEM micrograph of the epithelium covering the ventral
surface of the floor of the kidney. Undifferentiated cells and
ciliated cells in the epithelium rest upon a basement membrane
supported by blocks of muscle. The undifferentiated cells are
strongly basophilic and have dense cytoplasma and a nucleus 
containing only small patches of condensed chromatin. The third
type of cell found in this epithelium, the secretive cell, is
absent from this portion of the epithelium shown in the micrograph.
