Health Plans and Enrollment

Dependent Enrollments and Deletions
Family Member Additions, Newborn or Adopted Children, Dependent Children, New Spouse Enrollment, Domestic Partners, Tax Implications, Family Member Deletions
Dental
Delta Dental of California (basic and enhanced) and Delta Care Dental Plan (basic and enhanced) are the dental plans available for participation by eligible employees. Provisions of Collective Bargaining Agreements may modify dental plan benefits.
CSU Vision Plan
An employer-paid Vision Care Plan offered to all eligible employees and their eligible dependents.
Life Insurance Program
A term life insurance and limited accidental death and dismemberment program which includes an accelerated death benefit for terminal illness.
Long-term Care Program
Long-term care is the extended care needed due to a serious accident, chronic illness, or the frailties of old age.
Enrollment Continuation
The deadline for enrolling in health and dental plans is 60 calendar days from date of hire or eligibility. Enrollment in vision and life insurance is automatic for all eligible employees. There currently is no exclusion for preexisting conditions. An open enrollment period for health and dental plans is usually scheduled each year.
COBRA Continuation
Federal law requires that employers sponsoring group health plans with more than 20 employees offer their employees and their families the opportunity for a temporary extension of health coverage (called "continuation coverage") at group rates in certain instances where coverage under the plan would otherwise end.
