Bequest Language:
How to Include CSULB in Your Will

Including California State University, Long Beach in your Will or Living Trust will ensure the quality education programs and student achievements you have come to appreciate will continue for generations to come.

There are several ways you may make a gift to CSULB through your Will or Living Trust:

  • Gift of a PERCENTAGE of your estate:

“I give, devise and bequeath to the California State University, Long Beach Foundation, a California non-profit corporation, to be used for ______________, a ________% of my estate
I wish to have the gift used for the following purpose: [If restricted, please name the department or program you wish to support.  If unrestricted, please state “unrestricted use” here.]”

  • Gift of a DOLLAR AMOUNT from your estate:

“I give, devise and bequeath to the California State University, Long Beach Foundation, a California non-profit corporation, to be used for _______________, the sum of $_____________.  I wish to have the gift used for the following purpose: [If restricted, please name the department or program you wish to support.  If unrestricted, please state “unrestricted use” here.]”

  • Gift of SPECIFIC PROPERTY from your estate:

“I give, devise and bequeath to the California State University, Long Beach Foundation, a California non-profit corporation, to be used for the following purpose: [If restricted, please name the department or program you wish to support.  If unrestricted, please state “unrestricted” here], the following personal or real property as follows: (describe property and exact location).”

Matured gifts to California State University Long Beach should be directed as follows:

Federal Tax ID # 95-6106694

You may choose to allow your gift or bequest to be unrestricted as to its use, in which case the Board of Directors of the Foundation will use the gift in an area where they determine is the highest and greatest need at the time of the gift.  You may also restrict the gift for a specific academic area or program (such as President’s Scholars), scholarships for a particular academic area of study, general student scholarships, a building program, or other activities of interest to you.  You may contact the Director of Development in the college or department of your choice for a current description of programs or projects that may benefit from your gift.

When you have completed your documents, please send a note to CSULB confirming that we have been included in your will, how you would like your donation used, and an approximation of the gift value.  This information will allow us to fully recognize your gift.
