EPT and ELM TestsAll admitted students who do not qualify for an exemption from the EPT/ELM are required to test NO LATER THAN JUNE 14, 2008. A student who tests at another CSU campus must provide documentation from that campus verifying test attendance. Moreover, students who believe they qualify for an exemption must bring proof of the completed exemption to the Office of Enrollment Services by May 30, 2008. If proof of a completed exemption cannot be provided by May 30, students must take the EPT and/or the ELM by June 14, 2008. Students who do not test by June 14 will not be allowed to register for classes in the fall of 2008, and will have to reapply for admission for a future term. If you have any questions regarding this important information for fall of 2008, please call Testing & Evaluation Services at 562-985-4007. Upcoming tests are as follows: April 12 (registration deadline of March 28), May 3 (registration deadline of April 18), and June 14 (registration deadline of May 30). Please note that the EPT and ELM will be offered on all CSU campuses on May 3 and June 14. If you are planning to take the EPT and/or ELM on a CSU campus other than CSULB, please call the testing office of that campus to get precise information about registration and testing procedures.
Register for EPT/ELM Online (note; on-line registration is available for the nearest test date only)
The EPT/ELM test registration form must be completed online. If this is problematic, please call Testing & Evaluation Services at 562-985-4007.
As stated before, student may take The English Placement Test (EPT) and Entry Level Mathematics
test (ELM) at any of the California State Universities to
meet this requirement.
The EPT and ELM are for placement purposes only; failure to pass the tests will
not affect acceptance status. If tests results demonstrate that a student is
not yet ready for general education course work in English and/or mathematics,
the student will be required to take the appropriate remediation in the first
semester of attendance and for each consecutive semester until the prerequisite
course(s) are completed.
Exemptions to the testing
requirements are listed in the EPT/ELM
Information Bulletin, and they also appear as part of the EPT/ELM
Exemption
Form. Students who believe they are exempt should complete
the Exemption Form, attach the appropriate documentation, and submit
these documents to the Office of Enrollment Services (BH-101). Students will
be notified only if the exemption is not granted.
For Fall 2008, Student Orientation, Advising, and Registration (SOAR) workshops will begin in June 2008. Students should register for sessions that occur after they have EPT/ELM scores in hand. If you test as late as June 14 (the last possible date you can take the EPT and/or ELM for enrollment at CSULB), you will most likely have your scores by July 14, 2008. Therefore, please select SOAR registration dates that occur anytime from July 14-onward. If you have questions, please call Testing & Evaluation Services at 562-985-4007.
