It is a challenge to find a citizen or resident of the United States who is not grateful to our veterans and active duty military personnel for the daily service and sacrifice they have endured to protect and better our nation. Now, in sharp contrast to other eras, such as the Vietnam War era, there are few places better than university and college campuses for veterans to experience that gratitude. 
CSULB’s ability to respond in a crisis was tested earlier this year during the swine flu (H1N1) outbreak in Southern California. Campus leaders continue to meet to prepare for next year’s flu season when seasonal flu cases and a second wave of H1N1 are expected to occur.

Through veteran-friendly policies and one-on-one counseling, CSULB is increasing the number of student veterans successfully obtaining formal education and career placement.
To address the rising cost of textbooks, which have become a stress and burden to many students, the Forty-Niner Shops launched an innovative Pilot Textbook Rental Program.
