Alan T. Nishio Educational Equity Excellence Scholarship Established

Alan Nishio
At his retirement celebration on September 22, Alan Nishio reflected on his 34 years at CSULB.

In July, the Alan T. Nishio Educational Equity Excellence Scholarship was established to honor former Associate Vice President for Student Services Alan Nishio and to recognize his exemplary leadership and commitment to providing higher educational opportunities for students from first-generation, low income and historically underrepresented populations.

The scholarship is open to currently enrolled undergraduate students who have completed at least 30 units at CSULB or graduate students who have completed at least six units at CSULB. Applicants must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above and be in good academic standing. Applicants also must demonstrate achievements related to community involvement, campus cultural climate or co-curricular campus activities that promote educational equity and access.

Individuals interested in donating to the scholarship fund or applying for a scholarship should contact Justine Bellock at (562) 985-7659 or Valerie Bordeaux at (562) 985-5358.
