Sandra Olmedo—a student employee in the Office of the Dean of Students—received a Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities national internship for summer 2007. A kinesiology major at CSULB, Olmedo is slated to work as a recreation therapy intern at the Dallas VA Medical Center.
On May 11-13, Long Beach State is slated to host the 2007 National Collegiate Women’s Water Polo Championship at the Los Alamitos Joint Forces Training Base. Latino University Magazine bestowed its Organization of the Month award on Sigma Lambda Beta in its October issue. The men of Sigma Lambda Beta are involved in many campus and community activities, including a CPR awareness event, high school outreach and Make a Difference Day. Sigma Lambda Beta is one of the largest Latino Greek organizations, with a high concentration of chapters on the West Coast. Principles of the fraternity include brotherhood, philanthropy, cultural awareness and scholarship.
