Twelfth Grade Expository Reading and Writing Course
The CSU Expository Reading and Writing Task Force,
comprised of members from the CSU as well as K-12
English faculty and curriculum specialists, has
developed a series of assignments based on non-fiction
texts to use in a 12th grade expository reading and
writing course that districts will be able to pilot
and adopt. The course is designed to prepare students
for college-level English and it is aligned with English-Language
Arts Content Standards.
Workshops for Teachers
Piloting the Twelfth Grade Expository Reading and
Writing Course Modules
County offices of education across the state will
be sponsoring workshops for teachers who would like
to pilot the modules from the 12th grade expository
reading and writing course. English teachers at the
twelfth grade level are eligible to pilot. For a schedule
of trainings, interested teachers should contact the
language arts coordinator in their local county office
of education.
Mathematics Professional Development
A mathematics committee has been working on developing
professional development options for high school mathematics
teachers. The committee is working to identify and
develop professional development, as needed, utilizing a model similar to English.
Student Outreach
University Outreach and School Relations, along with several other outreach programs at CSULB, provide Early Assessment and college preparation information to local high school students.
Online Student Resources
